Dave and I first met on August 9th 1970, soon after I arrived from Australia as an exchange student. Dave and his family hosted me during my senior year at LAHS. He began by telling me tales about the legendary Knights. Then we tooled around the 'hood in his powder blue '65 Mustang convertible as he introduced me to his  many friends including, most notably,Sandy Van Straaten who decades later became his life partner. I have no male siblings. But Dave and I were as close, and apart, as siblings can be. He called me 'Tink' and I called him 'Dave'. We lived under the same roof for 12 months. And since then, we have often been able to shoot the breeze over a beer or two, most recently 10 weeks ago at the beautiful home he shared with Sandy in Arroyo Grande CA. Sitting out on a sun drenched deck looking over towards Morro Bay, the three of us spent two magic days having a lot of laughs and sharing many memories. I love you and will miss you like a blood brother, Dave. Thanks for everything old mate. Tink.

Wow.  What happened?  He seemed relatively healthy just a few years ago.

I think it was a heart attack and came as a shock to all those who loved him.
